Boys High School Travel Teams

Brent Tovrea

Director, Boys High School, Team NorCal Lacrosse

Team NorCal historically fields three Boys High School Teams:

HS Elite - Our best players from all classes.  Competes in local, regional and national recruiting tournaments in Advanced Brackets.  Primarily rising juniors and seniors but talented underclassmen are on the roster.

High School Select - Upperclassmen and younger members, competing primarily in local and regional tournaments in competitive brackets.

High School Platinum - Primarily underclassmen, but some developing juniors and seniors.  Competes mostly in local and some regional tournaments, but it is often in the more junior Brackets, consistent with the talent level of the team.

This year we are adding an Academy program to enable people still in the development phase to take advantage of our program.  This will include, practices, SummerBall, HS Fall Ball league and clinics -  When the player reaches a level to be able to compete in tournaments they will be offered the choice of joining a team.

We play in summer, fall and winter seasons.  The most intense times are summer and fall.

In a typical year Team NorCal rosters players from over 40 different High Schools around the Bay Area, from Sonoma County to the South Bay, and from San Francisco to Sacramento. We are proud to roster players from many of Northern California's top High School programs.

Historically, we have been a success in competing in many major tournaments.  The HS Elite team has won tournament titles at The Vail Shootout, The King's Showcase, the Pacific Lacrosse Festival, the Santa Barbara Showdown, The Tahoe U19 Boys Tournament, Grapevine,  and the Grand Gobbler.

Success is not limited to just Elite. Our Select team won the Kings Showcase RISE Division 3 consecutive years.   Our Platinum team has won the Vail HS B Division twice, and came in second at the Maryland Summer Sizzle in Baltimore, a major East Coast tournament.

Our players go on to continue their lacrosse careers in many outstanding colleges and universities.  Our Alumni Hall of Fame lists just a few.  In 2023, we had over 90 players in college programs from Division 1 to MCLA Club teams.

Our program offers more playing opportunities for you than any other travel program.  Besides travel team practices and tournaments, we offer 1) SummerBall, 2) Fall Ball League, and 3) Summer Day Camps and Overnight Bear Valley Camp.   For travel team and Academy players, SummerBall and HS Fall Ball League is included in your Team Fee.

In 2024, our High School Program's goals and philosophy are:

    1) Play a lot of lacrosse and get better at it.  Compete and win in competitive tournaments. Be challenged by working with better teammates, and by skilled coaches.  Our program practices run with expectations similar to what players can expect at the college level.

    2) Give you an opportunity to assess your interest and potential to play lacrosse in college.  Provide college advice and recruiting assistance for players who want exposure to college coaches and recruiters.

    3) Have fun on and off the field - Our most consistent conclusion is the value of new friendships you make, with people just as dedicated to the sport as you.  When you play your regular season, you will play most every week against someone from Team NorCal on another team.  And we go out of our way to provide plenty of opportunities at tournaments for families and friends to have a great time.
